YHC started off the morning with some early recon at The Coliseum counting the number of lightposts along W. Broad leading up to the Sugar Bowl putting the finishing touches on my scheme for the day. LongHaul and Geo were first to arrive as always (sometimes I think Geo might sleep there at night). He certainly follows 'Lombardi Time' and "to be early is to be on time and to be on time is to be late". YHC remembered just before the BD I had the shovel flag in my truck and planted it right before we got things started – no sprinklers were harmed in the planting of the flag… yet. Geo has the flag for Friday's BD.
Started this nice warm morning with a mosey up to the standard circle with some slow lunges around the circle and mosey back to the flag. Circled up and completed the following:
SSH – 15x
Weed Pickers – 15x
Baby Arm Circles – 15x
Baby Arm Circles (reversed) – 15x
Hillbillies – 15x
THANG 1: "Modified" Electric Mile
YHC was counting light posts in the gloom trying to decipher the best way to Q the Electric Mile to start the beatdown. When I got down to it I modified for time and we did something slightly under a mile for time as I had other work we needed to get in.
Mosey to the "Trump" bakery and turn back around to the meet at the flag. At each light post along the journey stop for either merkins (5x) or squats (10x) alternating exercises at each light post. Hold for the six.
THANG 2: Catch me if you can
Mosey down to the green space behind City Hall with the trusty DeWALT radio in hand for some workout tunes. Partner up to complete a catch me if you can with one PAX doing BBSU (15x) while the other bear crawls around the green space. Partner doing BBSU catches up and switch spots. YHC had only planned on one lap but PAX were making good time so we went for two full laps. Wall sits at the end and hold 6" while Geo took his good 'ol time with wall sits, certainly his favorite exercise.
THANG 3: BLIMPS
Used the same green space for one round of BLIMPS (due to time only moseyed in between each exercise instead of some sinister other method of travel – I have some good ideas for next time)
10 Burpees, 20 lunges, 30 imperial walkers, 40 merkins (grunts started ensuing), 50 plank jacks, 60 squats
Mosey back to the flag with just enough time to get in 15x gas pumpers (10x regular cadence, 5x slowed down).
Continued prayers for Bulldog and his continued tests and bloodwork. Praise/Prayers for Long Haul and his enthusiasm he brings to every beatdown and his health continuing to accelerate and working through the correct treatments. Prayers for all the kids as they finish school and this trying year, all of which they never really were able to make any choices about, we look forward to a great summer and kicking off a school year next year that feels more "normal".
